What are the types of decorative base paper?

1. Coated paper

Characteristics: The coated paper has smooth surface, high whiteness and uniform distribution of paper fibers. In addition, the coated paper features consistent thickness, small stretch, good elasticity and strong water resistance and tensile properties. The ink absorption and acceptance of the state is very good.

There are two types of coated paper: single and double-sided.

Applications: Mainly used for printing picture books, covers, postcards, beautiful product samples and color trademarks. Grammage: 80, 105, 128, 157, 200, 250, 300, 350 (g/m2) are common. Reference price: 7000-9000 yuan/ton.

2. Tooth powder paper

Characteristics: Different from coated paper, the toothpowder has a matte surface, and its fiber distributes on the paper evenly. Meanwhile, the tooth powder paper features good thickness, high density, and good elasticity and has strong water resistance and tensile properties. The ink absorption and reception state are slightly lower than coated paper, but the thickness is slightly higher than coated paper.

Application: Tooth powder paper is mainly used for printing picture books, cards, postcards, beautiful product samples, etc. Its ommon grammage are: 80, 105, 128, 157, 200, 250, 300, 350 (g/m2).

3. Lightly coated paper

Characteristics: Lightly coated paper, also known as low-quantity coated paper, is a low-gram weight coated paper.

Application: Mainly used for picture magazines, magazines, DM. Grammage: 64, 70, 80, 90 (g/m2).

4. White cardboard

Characteristics: It is a thicker and firmer white cardboard. Divided into two kinds of yellow core and white core.

Application: Mainly used for printing business cards, postcards, invitations, certificates and packaging decorative printed materials. Grammage: 250, 300, 350, 400 (g/m2).

5. White board paper

Characteristics: Gray core, thick, firm paper. Divided into two kinds of gray background white and white background white.

Application: Mainly used for a variety of packaging and decorative printed materials. Grammage: 250, 300, 350, 400 (g/m2).

6. Double-gum paper

Characteristics: Widely used, stable quality.

Application: Mainly used for various instructions, envelopes, letterheads, etc. Grammage: 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 120 (g/m2).

7. Writing paper

Characteristics: Writing paper is for ink writing paper, the paper requires writing without blotting.

Application: Mainly used for printing exercise books, diaries, forms and account books, etc. Grammage: 45, 50, 60, 70, 80 (g/m2).

8. Kraft paper

Characteristics: Kraft paper features high tensile strength, single light, double light, stripes, no grain, etc.. It divides into: white kraft and yellow kraft.
Application: mainly used for packaging paper, envelopes, paper bags, etc. Grammage: 60, 70, 80, 100, 120 (g/m2).

Decorative paper

Decorative paper classification of decorative paper can be divided into many kinds according to its quantitative and use.

• Poly paper – thin sheet paper.

Paper surface printing wood grain, used for MDF, HDF, plywood veneer, veneer need to use adhesive, after veneer need to finish treatment.

• Gorgeous paper – thin sheet paper.

Gorgeous paper already has design and coating on the surface, mainly used for surface decor of MDF, HDF, plywood veneer, veneer. When applied on the board, you only need to apply the adhesive but no need to do the coating decoration again.

The gorgeous paper is suitable for the some decor applicetion that no high requirement of wear resistance.

• Pre-painted paper – decorative paper (titanium white paper).

The pre-paint paper was prined with wood grain design, and also be dipped or coated with a small amount of resin. The resin content of pre-painted paper ranges 20% to 60%.

A low amount of resin content is used for MDF veneer. Those with high resin content are used for sealing strips. The adhesive needs to be applied when veneering, and generally, no more finishing is done after veneering. Abrasion resistance is higher than that of gorgeous paper.

• Low pressure melamine impregnated paper – decorative paper (titanium white paper).

The low-pressure melamine impregnated paper was printed with a wood grain design on the surface, and also impregnated with low-pressure melamine resin. The resin content of low-pressure melamine impregnated paper ranges 130% to 150%.

For the application, the low-pressure melamine impregnated paper is mainly used for particle board, MDF veneer. No need to apply glue when veneering, no more finishing after veneering. Abrasion resistance is higher than that of pre-painted paper.

• High-pressure melamine impregnated paper – decorative paper (titanium white paper).

The paper surface is printed with wood grain, and impregnated with high-pressure melamine resin with resin content ranges 60% to 100%.

The high-pressure melamine impregnated paper is used for manufacturing decorative laminate (fireproof board). The decorative laminate fireproof board is covered with high-pressure melamine impregnated paper. Therefore, the abrasion resistance feature of the fireproof board is fully based on the abrasion resistance of the surface paper.
